Character References Makes a Difference. [IBYC]
Choosing your character references can be the difference between choosing a job that fits, or being passed over because you're not a good-fit for the position.
Choose wisely my friends.
I Believe You Can!
Direct walk-in; hands down. The last interview I had was at our local dollar store. They were looking for help; I talked to the manager and was told that all I needed to do was fill out the online application and she would be watching for it the next day. It was a PT cashier position. I told her I no longer had a resume (I am 63 and only looking for 12-15 hours a week), but I did have recommendation letters from my boss and co-worker at the last job I had (2017-2025) and had other references as well.
However, I fell when I was walking home (dollar store is a little more than a mile away) slightly cracked one kneecap and got what was a nasty soft tissue injury on my ankle. I never contacted them back. I regret not calling to tell them about my fall and I would need time to heal.
