How to craft your resume to get calls back

Your resume is probably why you are not getting called back. Here is the fix. If you have been applying for jobs and not hearing back, it is almost never about your experience. Most of the time it is your resume. Not because you wrote it wrong. Because you wrote it the same way as everyone else applying for the same job.

Think about a bank teller position. A branch gets 80 applications. The hiring manager has 10 minutes to sort them. Every resume says "customer service experience" and "cash handling." They all look the same. So the manager picks the ones that feel slightly more specific to that posting -- and the rest go in the pile.

The fix is simpler than most people think. Your resume needs to match the specific job posting you are applying to. Not jobs in general. That one job. That means leading with the skills that posting actually asks for, using the same words the job description uses, and downplaying tasks that are not relevant to that role.

Most people send the same resume to 30 jobs. The ones getting interviews are sending a different resume to each one. We built a free tool at tobywins.ai that does two things. First it scores your job title so you know where you stand. Then it rewrites your resume specifically for the job posting you paste in -- using your actual work history, not a template.

Your first tailored resume is free. No credit card. Takes about 3 minutes. tobywins.ai

Cut The Crap Out Your Life. [IBYC]

Listen carefully as if your livelihood depends on it. Because in a true sense, it really does.

Silently, you have greatness in you, all you have to do is what will really counts.

When you want to win for the sake of self, family and friends you have to "cut the crap out your life." I mean those things that hurts your progress.

I Believe You Can!

Interviewing Tips

Job Interview Tips That Can Help You Stand Out 🌟

Job interviews can feel intimidating, but preparation gives you confidence. Here are a few tips that have helped me and may help someone else:

✅ Research the company before the interview Know what they do, who they serve, and why the role matters. Even a few solid details can help you sound prepared and interested.

✅ Practice your “Tell me about yourself” answer Keep it focused on your experience, strengths, and why you are a good fit for the role.

✅ Use real examples Instead of saying, “I’m a hard worker,” share a quick story that shows how you solved a problem, hit a goal, handled customers, or learned something quickly.

✅ Ask thoughtful questions Good questions show that you are serious. Ask about training, team goals, expectations, company culture, and what success looks like in the role.

✅ Follow up after the interview A short thank-you message can leave a strong impression. Mention something specific from the conversation and express your continued interest.

✅ Stay encouraged Every interview is practice. Even if one door closes, another one can open. Don’t let rejection make you forget your value.

Sometimes the opportunity is not just about being the “perfect” candidate. It is about showing that you are prepared, coachable, professional, and ready to bring value.

Keep going. Your next yes could be closer than you think. 💼✨

Did you know? Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act is one of the most powerful—but often overlooked—drivers of workplace inclusion.

Section 503 requires federal contractors and subcontractors to take affirmative action to recruit, hire, retain, and advance qualified individuals with disabilities. It also sets a 7% utilization goal for employing people with disabilities across all job groups.

Why does this matter?

  • It pushes organizations to go beyond compliance and foster true equity.

  • It opens doors for highly skilled talent that is too often overlooked.

  • It makes disability inclusion part of the business strategy, not just a checkbox.

For job seekers with disabilities, Section 503 means greater opportunity and accountability. For employers, it’s a chance to lead in building workplaces where everyone can thrive.

  • Inclusion isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s the smart thing to do.
